Trust in the Club

No star ratings. No anonymous reviews. Trust on Fyreside is built two ways — through mutual validation after every stay, and through attributed notes that members write about real experiences.

Member badges Community comments

Member badges

Badges aren't reviews. They're a simple count of validated stays — both the host and guest confirm a stay was completed and they were satisfied, and the badge grows on both sides.

No star ratings. No scores. No narrative. The more validated stays you have, the more your badge grows. It's trust built through real, shared experience.

Badge tiers

Your badge grows with every validated stay. Hosts and guests each have their own badge track.

Marker 1 validated stay
Cairn 3 validated stays
Tower 10 validated stays
Summit 25+ validated stays

How validation works

Simple, mutual, no pressure.

1

Stay completes

After checkout, both the host and guest receive a validation prompt in their Fyreside dashboard.

2

Mutual validation

Each member independently validates the stay — confirming it was completed and they were satisfied. No text, no stars.

3

Recorded & counted

Once both sides validate within 7 days, the stay is recorded and both members' badges progress automatically.

4

Trust grows

Badges progress naturally. No penalties for unvalidated stays — they simply stay pending. Stone by stone, your cairn grows.

Community comments

After a stay, members can write a short note about the experience — as a guest commenting on a host's property, or as a host commenting on a guest they hosted. These notes live on member profiles and on property listings for anyone in the club to read.

There are no star ratings. No anonymous submissions. Every comment is tied to the member who wrote it, with their name and role displayed. If someone leaves a comment, they stand behind it.

Guest comments

What guests write

A guest can leave a comment about a host's property and the stay experience. These appear on the host's profile and on the relevant property listing — visible to other guests considering a stay.

Host comments

What hosts write

A host can leave a comment about a guest they welcomed onto their property. These appear on the guest's profile — useful context for other hosts considering accepting a stay request from that member.

How it works

Writing and managing your comments happens entirely from your member profile.

1

Write from your profile

Open the Comments section of your member profile and write a note. You'll record the property name, your role (guest or host), and the month of the stay.

2

Choose who sees it

Each comment has a visibility toggle. Make it visible and the community can see it. Keep it invisible and only you can see it — useful for notes you want to remember but not share.

3

It appears where it matters

Visible guest comments show on the host's profile and on their property listings. Visible host comments show on the guest's profile. You can edit or change visibility any time.

The subject can respond.

If someone writes a comment about you, you can attach a short response that appears alongside the original. Same frame, your own name on it. The community sees both.

You can't remove a comment someone else wrote about you — that's their account, under their name. But you can speak to it. Response, not takedown. Both pieces stay attached to the people who wrote them, and the rest of the club gets the full picture.

Responses are managed from the “Comments About Me” section of your member profile.

You control visibility

Every comment you write has a simple visible / invisible toggle. You decide what the community sees — and you can change your mind at any time.

Visible

Shown to all Fyreside members. Appears on the relevant member's profile and on property listings. Your name and role are attached. This is how comments contribute to community trust.

Invisible

Only you can see it. Useful for keeping your own record of stays — dates, notes, things you want to remember — without sharing with the community. Invisible comments never appear on other members' profiles or property listings.

What a comment looks like

Comments are kept short and to the point — up to 500 characters.

Quiet, well-kept land with a great fire pit setup. The host was easy to communicate with and the directions were clear. Exactly what I was looking for — private, no frills, no neighbors. Would return without hesitation.

How this is different from platform reviews

Platform review systems are built to serve the platform. Community comments are built to serve the members who write and read them.

Platform reviews
  • Anonymous or easily separated from identity
  • Aggregated into star ratings that flatten nuance
  • Used by the platform to rank and suppress listings
  • Once submitted, you lose control of what happens to it
Fyreside comments
  • Attributed — your name is attached to what you write
  • Written words only — no scores or rankings
  • Never used to rank or suppress any member or listing
  • You control visibility — toggle visible or invisible any time

Trust is earned, not aggregated
